How To Plan The Wedding Of Your Dreams
If you have just gotten engaged, you know that you now have a wedding to plan. For some this is the most exciting time in their lives, while others might be a bit overwhelmed by the process. If you just got engaged and feel that way, you just need to take the time to learn how to plan the wedding of your dreams.
The first thing you want to do is make yourself a wedding planning binder. This will help keep you organized. You would want to make sure it is at least one inch if not two because you are going to have to put a lot of stuff in it. You should also get dividers.
You can just go with a plain binder but you can also have some fun with it too. You can find photos of you and your future spouse and put those on the binder. Just make it look the way you want. It might become a good keepsake someday.
You will then need to make categories. Some suggestions would be, venue, dress, photographer, videographer, food, bridal party, guests and honeymoon. You want to add any categories that you will be collecting information for. That way, whenever you email someone or find information about that subject, you can print it out and put it in there.
You should also make a master list of everything that needs to be done for the wedding. Take some time to figure this out. Look at magazines and books to help. You want everything on this master list.
You can also talk with friends who have been married recently or look online. There is a lot of information out there about what you are supposed to do to plan a wedding. You can pick and choose what will work for you and what you have in mind for your special day.
Now it is time to start going through the list. What you need to do is figure out when you have time to plan your wedding. For a lot of couples this would be on the weekends. It would be a good idea to have a small calendar that you keep in your wedding planning binder.
You should go through your days off and write down what you want to do to get through your list. One weekend might be to interview photographers, another might be to find the right cake. You need to break everything down so you have time to do it and having a schedule will really help you with that.
Once you have finished something on your master list, cross it off. You won’t have to worry about doing anything with it for a while. You know it is done and you can move on to something else. Keep in mind that you should confirm with any vendors right before the wedding.
It is important that you figure out where you are going to have your wedding first. That will determine the date. If your first date is already taken you might need to pick another one. You can’t book any of the other vendors until you know what date you are going to be married on.
You should also figure out who you are going to invite. A smaller wedding calls for different things then a bigger one. You should have a rough idea of how many guests so you can plan. You really won’t know for sure how many people are going to come until you get your RSVPs back.
Another thing you should do early on is pick the bridesmaids and groomsmen. You want to go with people you consider close friends or family members. You want the people who value you and your relationship to stand up there next to you on your special day.
Wedding planning can be a lot of fun but you do need to stay organized. You need to make sure you get a little done each month or you are going to start to get too overwhelmed and it won’t be any fun anymore.
